Quantia MD partnered with Cap Gemini Consulting to create a new report on the state of the pharma commercial space, and it found that the number of no-see doctors is increasing rapidly.
- 32% of physicians said they cannot talk to reps, compared to 27% last year
- 42% of doctors affiliated with integrated health networks say they are not allowed to see reps, compared to 36% last year
The trend towards more physicians working in provider organizations continues as well:
- 57% of physicians now work within an organized provider system
- 44% of doctors said they are working for organizations that are moving towards an ACO model (which often means more restrictions around access)
These industry shifts point to opportunity for pharmaceutical companies:
- Use the rep force for more education across the HCP spectrum, not just doctors
- Approach the administrators as well as the physicians to offer help
- Increase the digital channels available for those doctors who need your information (we threw that one in, -Ed.)
