The small study had an automated system, named EpxMedTracking, to send text messages and get responses from 22 active participants.

The participants were 85.9% compliant with their prescriptions. Some of the reasons they reported for not remaining adherent were:

The small “other” contingent seems to indicate that the top four reasons were the primary ones.

Healthcare marketers can use this insight to craft messaging and tools to help patients overcome their adherence challenges.
