Roche has acquired the MySugr diabetes app. No doubt this was a windfall for the MySugr investors and owners and the benefit to Roche's diabetes franchise cannot be overstated.

The stories about Roche’s foresight and MySugr’s success are plentiful, but one thing that struck us at the Klick Wire was the difference in tone of the two announcements from the two companies.

mySugr joins the Roche FamilyFun, friendly, and patient-focused.

Roche acquires mySugr to form a leading open platform for digital diabetes managementDry, corporate, and “pharma.”

The benefit of Roche acquiring mySugr may not be just the technology of the startup but the approach to authentic patient engagement that the firm brings with it.
