Apple has worked very hard to ensure that its smartwatch is not considered a medical device by the FDA and Tom Cook, CEO of Apple, has finally said why. It wasn't really a secret, but this is the first time (as far as we know -Ed.) that Cook called out the FDA's process as hampering innovation in an interview in The Telegraph:
“We don’t want to put the watch through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) process. I wouldn’t mind putting something adjacent to the watch through it, but not the watch, because it would hold us back from innovating too much, the cycles are too long. But you can begin to envision other things that might be adjacent to it — maybe an app, maybe something else.”
Oh, and he also called for an end to the personal computer, something that his rivals at Microsoft are also working on.
