Nine out of 10 consumers constantly check their home email at work and their work email at home. This is work-life integration and it's taken over from the outdated concept of work-life balance... for knowledge workers they just aren't separated anymore (the story is really about email, we just needed to get that off our collective chests -Ed.).
What this means is that email is just as important in the world of social media as it was before, maybe more so. Consumers check their emails everywhere:
- 70% while watching TV
- 52% lounging in bed (this isn’t good for sleep quality -Ed.)
- 50% while on vacation
- 43% while talking on the phone
- 42% while using the bathroom
- 18% while driving (stop it! -Ed.)
This reinforces the same old message: make sure your emails are viewable on mobile (yes, we know the Wire could be better… we’re working on it -Ed.).
