When you think of the world’s most innovative companies, which ones come to mind?
Safe to say that Google, Facebook, and Tesla are probably somewhere on your list. These industry leaders pioneered bold experiments that ultimately changed how we find information, how we connect to one another, and how we get from place to place.
To revolutionize search, social networking, and transportation, we believe it took more than just imagination, smart people, and hard work. In order to change the world and create a true revolution with maximum impact, these companies experimented with sharing some of their tools and methods for everyone to use.
For example, Google released or contributed to more than 2,000 open source projects. Facebook allows anyone to use and contribute to React.js, a code framework that powers some of the world’s top websites. And in 2014, Tesla famously announced they would no longer initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who wanted to use their technology to advance the electric vehicle.
At Klick Health, our Experience Design (XD) team is working towards a revolution of our own in healthcare. For over 20 years, Klick’s work has helped to dramatically improve the lives of patients, their families, and healthcare professionals (HCPs).
As our CEO Leerom Segal has said: “We decided a long time ago to embrace a high-performance culture of experimentation and engagement, and it’s been paying off in dividends.” To turbocharge our contribution to the world of Experience Design, we think it’s time to take a page from revolutionary organizations like Google, Facebook, and Tesla. It’s time to conduct our own experiments to help usher in the Healthcare Experience Revolution.
The Healthcare Experience Revolution is about finding innovative ways to improve the lives of patients, their families, and HCPs. To succeed, this revolution needs practitioners to reimagine and deliver solutions that put patients, their families, and HCPs first. To do this, we’ve evolved a suite of custom tools over the years that we call the Klick Healthcare XD Tool Kit, and we’re excited to share it with the world for the first time!
To kick off this experiment, we’ve released the first tool in the kit, our groundbreaking Patient Experience Map Tool (PEM). This tool is used by Klick Health’s Experience Design team to clearly map patient needs and design innovative solutions for our clients. We’ve included the tool, detailed instructions for use, and a completed sample Patient Experience Map for reference.
We believe sharing the PEM and other forthcoming XD tools reinforces Klick’s experimental culture, and further the cause of the Healthcare Experience Revolution as we all work together to improve the lives of patients, their families, and HCPs.
Stay tuned for additional tools, content, and updates to the Healthcare XD Toolkit in the coming months.
