YouTube continues to tweak the user experience on the channel. Time time they are changing their responsive layout to make the content center on larger screens and are giving playlists more prominence. The biggest change for branded pharmaceutical channels will be the movement of the Important Safety Information (ISI) box to below the channel image:
Things to watch for:
- The ISI is still well above the fold on any normal screen so this shouldn’t be an issue regarding approvals or with the FDA regulations. However, as we learned in story number one, above, all branded pharmaceutical channels using the ISI box will need to be resubmitted so it is probably time to schedule some time with your regulatory group.
- Likewise, the feature image now crops somewhat larger from the source. This may mean that material is showing that does not belong on the desktop, depending on how the source image was created. It is very unlikely that this will cause a problem but it is still advisable to review your channels.
The increased focus on the ability for users to like and subscribe to playlists signals that these video groups will become more important in the future. Use playlists for your videos whenever possible.
