Dr. Roni Zeiger is leaving the company he co-founded, Smart Patients, to join Facebook as its first Head of Health Strategy. He talks about the move in a short post on his blog:
As for what’s next, I’ll be joining Facebook as their new Head of Health Strategy, doubling down on my commitment to peer support. I can’t resist the opportunity to help improve Health Support Groups and the quality of health information across Facebook.
This announcement comes after Facebook talked about a health support tool to help patients find groups and the ability to post anonymously on these groups.
With 98% of engaged patients using the platform according to WEGO Health this move will likely help Facebook retain trust in that population and start to rebuild it in the population as a whole.
