The Q4 digital video report from Ooyala looks at the ongoing trend toward mobile video from traditional computers. In Q4 of last year mobile views (smartphone and tablet) surpassed 60% and smartphone continues to be the most popular single device.

Over the past eight quarters, mobile plays in North America have increased nearly 20% as more carriers have moved to unlimited data plans to attract new users and have pitched mobile devices as primary screens, especially to younger users. It’s a strategy that, obviously, has worked.

As more users get their hands on unlimited mobile data plans expect the small screen to continue to grab more digital video share. The report also goes into detail on video advertising and average video lengths so it’s worth a download for marketers who use video assets.
