A small study conducted in Toronto, Ontario shows that patients with mental health disorders are willing to use mobile apps for treatment and further are willing to share some data with their HCPs.
Unsurprisingly in an urban city like Toronto mobile devices are common and the researchers found that in their population:
- 89% own mobile phone
- 85% connect to internet on mobile
- 84% would install mental health monitoring app
Also, the data that patients were willing to share were extensive:
This study should be a wake up call for healthcare companies whose patients suffer from mental health conditions. There are mobile app opportunities for this audience (not something we say lightly or often -Ed.).
