ASCO wasn't the only health conference held last week, Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) almost always has something for mHealth aficionados and this one was no exception. There were four main health announcements.
In summary the mHealth announcements were:
- Activity Trends: provide longer term trends and alert the user about improvements or deterioration
- Menstrual Cycle Tracking: both the Apple Watch and iOS devices will get a menstrual tracking app that also includes a fertility option, something that Glow might find aggravating
- Hearing Health: monitors background noise and alerts the user if it becomes dangerously loud, since the public is skittish about being recorded the announcement made a point of highlighting that the app “does not record or save audio”
- Health App Privacy: again because of public concerns, Apple went out of their way to emphasize how all health data is stored locally or encrypted on iCloud and never shared without your permission
