GfK surveyed more than 20,000 consumers around the world to find out who tracks their health and they released the top line information as a white paper. If you're a global marketer looking for mHealth data, this presentation is for you.

The number one and two reasons that people track their health is, not surprisingly, to be healthy (not lose weight, that’s #7):

In the US 48% either are or have tracked their health:

This study seems to show that consumers are tracking their health for aspirational reasons (be more healthy) rather than negative reasons (lose weight). The full report has similar numbers on 16 countries.
