Global Web Index does what it's name might suggest – it monitors global internet trends. It released two reports for 2018, and we threw in an infographic for good measure:

The internet is nearing 50% global usage. We have a long way to go for ubiquity but we’re getting there.
These users are moving toward mobile-first with the Gen-Z and Millennial groups already there.
Users access a large number of social platforms and Facebook’s properties reach 90% of them.
What about Boomers though? This group is more often a health target group than Gen-Z or Millennials. They are using social in vast numbers but not for as much time as their younger counterparts.
We’ve known that internet usage was essentially ubiquitous for years, but social usage for older demographics just keeps growing and this might spur some more marketers to look at this channel.
