New research into 633 caregivers was conducted by Rx4Good between April and May 2018 and presented at the Drug Information Association (DIA) shows how these critical participants in the healthcare system search for information. They combine in-person and digital searches and lean heavily on endemic properties:
Most of these caregivers were already actively seeking information about their loved-one’s condition when they became caregivers, but most don’t consider themselves experts:
- 89% I was frequently searching for more information about their medical condition(s), medications and treatment options
- 40% I considered myself to be an expert on their medical condition(s), medications and treatment options
This information-seeking behavior is pervasive and does not drop off over time:
The report contains a lot more insight into what caregivers go through for their loved ones but these are the top insights from a digital perspective.
