Championing Charitable Causes

In the healthcare marketing agency world, we work with our clients to create brands and solutions that help inform and engage patients to manage their health and play a central role in their own care.

Complementing this important work, we also strive to improve people’s health and overall well-being by supporting charities that matter to us deeply through our Klick Cares corporate social responsibility program.

For the last two years, I have had the distinct pleasure of being a Klick Cares Champion for Ride for Heart, an amazing event that gets thousands of people out riding, running, or walking along the city’s expressways (traffic-free for this one Sunday morning every June) in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Ride for Heart is a remarkable event that promotes physical activity and healthy eating habits, provides a wonderful sense of community to all who participate, and funds critical heart and stroke research.

As a Champion of the Klick Pacemakers (our team name), I collaborated with a talented and supportive committee to shape our campaign and orchestrate a number of awareness and fundraising events.

Getting Creative for Charity

Throughout the month of May, we got creative and offered many opportunities to learn about heart disease, support the cause, get involved, and just have fun!

We hosted:

Klicksters spinning as fast as they can for prizes!

Family and friends were also invited to join in on the fun, growing our team, and making things even more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone involved.

I believe it is vitally important to support charitable organizations who fund breakthrough research for causes like cardiovascular disease because, while largely preventable, everyone knows someone who has been affected by heart disease or stroke, given that they are two of the leading causes of death worldwide.

Benefits of being a Charitable Champion

Being a Klick Cares Champion has many benefits. I had the opportunity to work on something completely different from what I normally do while contributing to the culture at Klick and wholeheartedly supporting a cause that is personally meaningful to me due to a family connection with stroke. I have also been able to further improve my organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills while challenging myself to be a better team leader. Lastly, leading this initiative has enabled me to inspire others to make healthy lifestyle choices and give generously.

Some of the incredible Klick Pacemakers!

It has been an immensely rewarding experience bringing Klicksters as well as their families and friends together for a noteworthy cause. Being a Klick Cares Champion has allowed me to create positive changes in those around me and in myself. As a team, we were able to surpass our goal and raise over $25K for the Heart and Stroke Foundation to help support disease prevention initiatives and scientific research that has the potential to save lives. It is my hope that one day we will live in a world where we all live healthier lifestyles, treatments are able to reverse medical conditions, and heart disease and stroke are considered to be a thing of the past.

Do good for yourself by doing good for others!
