Agency chief joins exclusive list of hall of famers recognized for inspired leadership in life sciences
TORONTO, ON – September 24, 2015 – On the heels of his recent appointment to the Google Health Advisory Board and being named one of the 100 Most Inspiring People in Health for four consecutive years, Klick Health Co-founder and CEO Leerom Segal has been honored with a 2015 Red Jacket Award by PharmaVOICE Magazine.
The only 2015 Red Jacket honoree from the Agency side of the industry, Segal joins four highly respected pharmaceutical executives to be inducted into this year’s PharmaVOICE Hall of Fame for their commitment to transformative change, leadership, innovation, mentoring, and philanthropy in the life sciences industry. The other honorees are: Johnson & Johnson Chairman and CEO Alex Gorsky; Pfizer CMO and Executive Vice President Freda Lewis-Hall, M.D.; Forum Pharmaceuticals President and CEO Deborah Dunsire, M.D.; and Marathon Pharmaceuticals Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Aronin.
“I feel very flattered and honored to be recognized with a Red Jacket Award alongside these pharma industry veterans who have served as inspirational role models and committed themselves to helping patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals throughout their careers,” said Segal.
PharmaVOICE Editor Taren Grom said, “With a passion grounded in the fusion between technology and connecting stakeholders to improve patients’ lives, Leerom continues to re-invent how data is being used to improve the consistency of pharmaceutical and biotech company operations. We congratulate Leerom on being named a PharmaVOICE Red Jacket honoree. He generously shares his passion, unique vision, and obsession with building a culture that attracts and engages leaders who are equally passionate about health and doing meaningful work.”
In the last year, Segal was also named an EY Media & Technology Entrepreneur of the Year and Medical Marketing & Media magazine’s Agency Marketer of the Year (Gold Award). He is a New York Times bestselling author who has spoken at TEDGlobal, Harvard University, Google, Twitter, and the Cannes Lions Health Creativity Festival.
Most recently, he joined the Google Health Advisory Board and served as Chief Curator and Co-Chair of the inaugural Klick Ideas Exchange. The event was held as a precursor to the BIO International Convention, bringing together some of the biggest thinkers in health and business and the nation’s leading pharma and biotech CEOs to explore how emerging technologies and data can radically change the way health care is delivered and how health care companies work. Speakers included Drs. Eric Topol, Ezekiel Emanuel, and Daniel Kraft, and acclaimed business management gurus Tom Peters and Gary Hamel.
Known for his unconventional approach to business, Segal launched his first company at age 12, sold his first business when he was 14, was named CTO of publicly traded Motion Works Group by the time he was 16, and co-founded Klick in 1997 at the age of 17. He was inducted into PROFIT Magazine’s Hall of Fame as the Youngest CEO ever to lead a PROFIT 100 company.
