HCP adoption of new technology has played an important role in creating efficiencies for doctors, but many worried that these same technologies could create a barrier between themselves and patients.
A recent study conducted by Nuance, a voice recognition tech company, indicates an overwhelming large percentage of patients are receptive to consultations where doctors utilized desktop computers and/or mobile devices. In fact, 60% of patients said technology enhanced their exam room experience.
- 97% of patients approved of their doctor using technology during a consultation
- 76.7% of patients were comfortable with doctors using desktop computers compared to
- 27.4% of patients who were comfortable with mobile technology during consultations
Technology can’t replace the human element of a good medical practice, but it can certainly play an important role in enhancing patient and caregiver experiences by helping to educate and set expectation during consultations.
