Klick Health CEO featured as expert in Inc. Magazine
January 24, 2012 – Inc. Magazine featured Klick Health’s CEO Leerom Segal in an “ask the expert” series entitled, “The Smartest Dumb Thing I Ever Did.” Leerom speaks to the value of organic growth, and how temptation to grow through merger and acquisition can often be a drain on culture which doesn’t pay out in the long run.
Klick Health CEO, Leerom Segal, shared a potential acquisition in mobile marketing that Klick Health eventually declined. Klick Health passed on this opportunity, fearing that the company’s revenue was too concentrated on three major clients. The company performed extremely well, and initially, the decision not to acquire the company seemed like a mistake.
“But that mistake also worked out really well, because in time we recognized how profoundly important it is to grow a company culture the right way,” said Segal, as Klick’s focus on growth became fixated on organic growth exclusively.
“Our dumb decision turned out to be smart when we invested those same funds to build up the capability of our own organization. Ultimately the dollar-for-dollar gains were comparable—and our employees, and our company culture, benefited even more.”
Since its inception in 1997, Klick Health has grown an average of 30% year over year solely through organic growth. Check out the entire article.
